What Makes a Personal Gift?

A personal gift is a thoughtful gift. It is an item you have selected because you think it will please the person you are giving it to. In a way, it’s a description of your relationship.
It can be something you crafted from scratch – cookies, chocolates, a candle, a knitted scarf.
Or it might be something you purchased and tizzied up to please your mom or your friend. You could buy one of those adorable gauzy gift bags with a cord tie and some dried lavender and rose petals. Put the flowers in the bag and pull the cord. Stitch it to hold firm. Attach a charm with meaning to you both to the end of one of the ties. Just an example. Or you could buy a candle rather than make it, and decorate it yourself.
Then again, you might purchase the perfect item, pack it with colored shredded paper, and present it in a beautifully wrapped box.
Okay, that may or may not represent frugality. I admit, a perfect present will not always cost less than store-bought, and that’s the giver part of you. After all, you won’t be frugal with your love, will you?
